And he left them, and again entering into the boat, departed to the other side. And the disciples came to the other side and they had forgotten to take bread and they did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. And Jesus warned and said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees and the yeast of Herod.” And they reasoned with one another and among themselves, saying, “It is because we have no bread and we took no bread.” And Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, “Why do you reason among yourselves, oh you of little faith, ‘because you have brought no bread?’”
Do you not yet perceive, neither understand nor remember when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up? They told him, “Twelve.” And when the seven loaves fed the four thousand, and how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up? And they told him, “Seven.” And he asked them, “Do you not understand, yet?” Is your heart still hardened? Having eyes, do you not see and having ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember? How is it that you do not perceive that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he did not say to them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
